The single largest improvement most tea drinkers can make is water at the right temperature. A green tea brewed at boiling turns bitter; one brewed at about 175 degrees does not. Fellow's Corvo EKG Pro sets temperature to the degree on a color screen and has presets for different teas in its Guide Mode, plus a steeping stopwatch.
Unlike Fellow's gooseneck Stagg, the Corvo has a wide spout for a quick pour into a teapot, which is what tea asks for. It holds temperature for 15 to 60 minutes, so the second and third infusions of an oolong are ready without reheating, and it can be scheduled to be hot at a set time in the morning.
It is a lot of money for a kettle, and it is not dishwasher safe. Someone who only drinks black tea at a full boil will get little from the temperature control.
The catch. Mineral deposits build up in hard water areas and need descaling regularly.
